The weather has been fantastic. It rains every now and then, bringing down the temperature of our otherwise humid city. Play some good music and it'll be a perfect complement. I find it revitalizing.

The sister was listening to this piece of music by Secret Garden, Song for a stormy night. The tune sounded oddly familiar. I was instantly captivated. So I began searching for their music and began a series of long downloads. This duo is Irish-Norwegian. They play Neo-classical music. Their works are largely instrumental and has a very unique style. I guess they were largely influenced by the local folk songs.

A pity that the duo receive very little recognition for their work. Their compositions are remarkable. A very well known one is You rasie me up, popularized by Josh Groban and Westlife. All the while I thought that Groban was the original singer. Listen to the instrumentalists in the background. Especially the violinist, he brings out the subject so beautifully.

The downloads I did were good. Other pretty good pieces are Home, Winter Light, Nocturne... The songs are very similar in style. The minor-major transitions, the cadences, the chords. They are so beautiful. I dunno how to describe the beauty. Just.. simply beautiful.

It reminds me of the history of Modern Music. Do you know that we owe the existence of Modern Music to Christ? You see, in the early days, musicians made compositions only to worship Christ, to sing in church. That is also how modern instruments began to develop. Violins, pianos, cellos...

Wish I could visit the old towns and churches in Europe. There is so much that I wanna see and feel for myself. The culture, the history, the architecture, the music. The church music! The chorales, hymns, preludes and fugues... Haha, I've painted a picture too perfect in my mind.

Perhaps GIP in Vienna? Could explore such an option.
