Amid the recession, I'm proud to be gainfully employed! There are plently of people out there who are employed-technically. But I'm socially productive. Yeah!
At Northpoint, they've underwent major renovating. The places look uber high class. The floors are partially carpeted and the mall looks like a mini version of Taka or Paragon. I haven't walked around the mall cos I hardly get to leave the cashiering machine.
The human flow at Northpoint is good. I always get the irritating customers because my colleagues will run into trouble and refer them to me. Some Ah Nehs will come and insist that I give them extra discount. Also got a Tiong who complained, "你们的东西太普通了,有没有比较名贵的?" Like machiam they very rich. So rich donate to charity lah, what for waste money. I'm quite used to customers getting pissed off with me. Eh nope, actually its my company but since they consider us representatives of the company, so they take it out on us. So I ignore their snide comments. This is just part and parcel of the occupation. Pple thinks that we get paid to be scolded. Ugly Singaporeans.
My legs are also giving way. I got out of bed yesterday morning and fell down. Lol. I'm marveled at my own weak-ness. I used to work equally long hours during the peak season in the previous 2 years but I wasn't that lousy. Haha... The only possible explanation I've conjured is the gain in weight. Due to Newton's 3rd law, the weight my body exert on the ground creates a equal force of opposite direction.. You know what I mean...
Do I sound like I'm contradicting myself? Haha. Ok, working indeed has its downsides but I look at the negative as a part of life. On the positive side, I'm contributing to society. Every sales that I make is going into generating income for the economy. Beats being a student.
Work aside, I'm learning a lot from this recession. Like Economic theories put into real life, you are able to appreciate it better.
After resuming work, I can feel the impact of the increase in commodity prices. I bought a cup of ice blended Soya Milk @ Jollibean for $2.40, to my horror. So I switch to nomal Soya Milk, and it cost me $1.60. Kns. Previously we were experience economic boom right, so inflation. Now recession, worsening inflation! I only feel the impact after working because I realized the extent of the decrease in my real wages. Lets hope that prices will stop rising.
Will be going Pelepah tml, will update on the trip after I'm back=)
